It was a disappointing loss to the Kearsarge Plymouth Cats in Andover NH last Wednesday. The first period was evenly matched as the Griffins held the Cats to a single goal in the first period. They tied the score at 1 when the K-P goaltender left the net to clear a puck, landing it directly on the stick of Evan Turner, who neatly sent it into the open net.
The second period remained close, as the Cats struck early in the second, but didn't pot their third until the last second of the period.
The Griffins suffered a handful of defensive breakdowns in the third period that allowed the Cats to capitalize on several 2v1 situations. The Cats scored two before the Griffins answered back in the form of an unassisted tally by Turner. Kearsarge picked up two more, but some hustle from Aidan King got the puck to Turner for his third goal on the night.
The Griffins face off against the Hollis Brookline/Derryfield Warriors on Wednesday 2/12 in Winchendon. It is sure to be an exciting game since the Warriors are the only team this year to shut out the Griffins, and they are not taking that lightly!
