Girls Varsity Field Hockey vs. Laconia High School

Cougars Win: 1 - 0
The Cougars took the field yesterday against the visiting Sachems of Laconia. In their Senior Day celebration, ConVal took a few moments to recognize the 8 seniors from Laconia as well as their own 5 seniors, Ella Morris, Morgan Norby, Ellie Rupp, Emily Vanderpool and Lucille White. Both teams came out strong and were able to string together some great passing sequences. The ConVal offense had a number of opportunities throughout the game, and after freshman Natalie Andres carried the ball up the right side of the field and crossed it to senior Lucille White for a shot on goal, senior Morgan Norby was able to collect the rebound and find the backboard with 2 seconds remaining in the 3rd quarter to give the Cougars the lead 1-0. The ConVal defense had a great day. Senior Ellie Rupp came up with a great defensive save in the 4th quarter to maintain the 1-0 lead, and junior goalie Ronia Foecking had a great day, making 21 saves to maintain the shut-out. Today's final game of the season also was the tipping point for Ronia to officially break the school record for saves in a single season, previously held by current JV/goalie coach Shauna Hautanen in 2008. The record was 352 saves, and Ronia's record is now 363. The Cougars finish their season 2-12.

Cougars Lose: 0.00 - 1.00
The Cougars took on the visiting Cavaliers of Hollis-Brookline yesterday in their 1st of a 4 home game stretch. Both teams came out strong and aggressive, and similar to their last few games, the Cougars are really coming together with some great passing sequences and stickwork The Cougars were able to fend of 23 penalty corners with junior goalie Ronia Foecking making 29 saves on the day, including another penalty stroke save, bringing her to 3-3 on penalty stroke saves! The Cavaliers were able to find the back of the net late in the 3rd quarter and although the Cougars kept the pressure up and played some great defense, Hollis-Brookline came out on top 1-0.
The Cougars return to action at home again on Tuesday to take on Merrimack Valley in their Pink Game for breast cancer awareness

Cougars Lose: 1.00 - 3.00
The Cougars traveled to take on the Raiders of Lebanon yesterday. Play was back and forth between the 25's, with both teams having some great passing sequences and defensive take-aways. The Cougars also showed some strong stick skills throughout the game. Lebanon was able to sneak one by the ConVal defense late in the 1st quarter. Although the Cougars kept the pressure up, the Raiders were able to add some insurance goals in both the 2nd and 3rd quarters. Seniors Ella Morris, Lucille White and sophomore Makayla Lamothe all had shots on goal. With 12 seconds remaining in the 3rd quarter, Lucille White was able to take the Lebanon goalie 1v1, eliminate her, and had a great reverse shot into the backboard. Junior goalie Ronia Foecking had a great game, making 22 saves on the day. The Cougars fell to Lebanon 3-1.
JV then took the field, coming out strong in a 7v7 game, controlling the majority of the game with great passing and stickwork. Sophomores Alex Akerley, Kaeyln Samuelson, Sophia Aiken and freshmen Emma Gow and Ari Hamlin all had shots on goal. Late in the first quarter, Sophomore Kaelyn Samuelson was able to take a great shot on goal and get one by the Lebanon goalie, to give the Cougars the win, 1-0.
The Cougars' next game is Thursday 9/28 when they take on the Cavaliers of Hollis-Brookline at home.

Cougars Lose: 0.00 - 9.00
Today the Cougars ran up against a strong John Stark program. ConVal gave it their all with lots of passing and working together throughout both the varsity and JV games. In the varsity game junior Ronia Foecking anchored the defense in goal making 42 saves, while in the JV game freshmen Scarlett Rogers and Bella Blanchard combined for 17 saves. The Cougars are back in action on Tuesday when they travel to take on the Sabers of Souhegan.

Cougars Win: 3 - 2
The Cougars took the field today against the visiting Spartans of Milford. ConVal came out strong, with great passing and worked great as a unit. Throughout the 1st quarter, the Cougars were putting the pressure on, with shots from seniors Ella Morris, Lucille White, juniors Maya Bennett and Danica Murdough, and sophomore Makayla Lamothe. Lucille White was able to sneak one by the Milford goalie to give the Cougars the lead through the 1st quarter. The Spartans came out tough in the 2nd quarter, scoring an equalizer and go ahead goal, to take the Cougars 1-2 going into the half. Starting the 3rd quarter, ConVal was able to string together some great passes, leading to Lucille White scoring her second goal of the game, assisted by junior Bella Messa, to tie the game. Play went back and forth during the 4th quarter, where the game remained tied at the end of regulation, leading to overtime. The Cougars were able to recover the ball on a Milford turnover, getting the ball onto the attack, and senior Ella Morris was able to take the Milford goalie on, scoring the game winning goal 49 seconds into overtime.
The JV cougars came out strong offensively from the get go with multiple shots in the first few minutes. Due to the numbers of the other team we were only able to play a single half 7v7 but the girls made the most of it! Sophomores Alex Akerley, Campbell Maggs, and freshmen Natalie Andres and Ari Hamlin all had shots on goal. Scarett Rogers and Bella Blanchard split time in net combining for another shutout tie 0-0.
ConVal travels to Pembroke on Thursday for their next matchup.

Cougars Lose: 0.00 - 1.00
The Cougars took on the Pythons of Pelham in their first official home game of the season.
The JV went first, playing a solid game of 7v7. They controlled a majority of the game, with teamwork and good passing. Freshman goalie Scarlett Rogers only had to make 1 save to secure the first shot of the season.
Varsity then took on the Pythons on the stadium field, under the lights. Pelham came out strong, with some great passing, and scored the lone goal of the game in the 1st quarter. The Cougars played some strong defense, with junior Abby Peters and senior Morgan Norby both making defensive saves, and junior goalie Ronia Foecking making 14 saves.
The teams travel today to take on Oyster River.

Cougars Lose: 0.00 - 3.00
The ConVal Field Hockey program traveled to Wolfeboro today for their match-ups with the Knights of Kingswood.
ConVal's JV field hockey team took the field for the first time this season. It was a tough, aggressive, and defensive game for the Cougars. They were able to net their first goal of the season as Campbell Maggs intercepted a Kingswood pass to start an offensive attack and after a few shots on goal by the CV offense sophomore Alex Akerley was able to bury it in the back of the net for her first goal. Freshman goalie Scarlett Rogers made 11 saves on the day.
Varsity then took the field and although the aggressive Kingswood Knights took an early lead 1-0 in the first quarter, the Cougars worked as a unit with some great passing and stickwork, holding the Knights to 1-0 until the 4th quarter. Junior goalie Ronia Foecking made some great saves, tallying 19 on the day. Senior defender Emily Vanderpool had a great defensive save, and senior Ella Morris had the Cougar's loan shot on goal. The Kingswood Knights came out on top 3-0.
The Cougars next take on the Pythons of Pelham on Tuesday 8/29 at 6:30 pm.
