CoEd Varsity Cross Country vs. Hollis-Brookline HS School

The ConVal Boys & Girls Cross-Country teams competed at the Coach Korcoulis Invitational at Hollis-Brookline High School on Saturday.

The day began with a mixed gender JV race which saw two freshmen leading the CV pack. Haven Deschenes and Kayla Groom took the boys and girls teams top spot respectively both lowering their season bests by over a minute in the process.

The Girls Varsity race showcased some of Division II's best teams and athletes. Oyster River took the team title with Con-Val just behind in the runner-up spot. Rachel Hurley led the Cougars with a third-place finish, crossing the line only 5 seconds behind last years DII runner-up. The CV girls put 2 more in the top 10 with Clare Veverka and Schuyler Michalak finishing 5th and 9th respectively. Sarah Newell and Hailey Doherty rounded out the top 5.

In a race dominated by Oyster River, the ConVal boys showed improvement across the board as front-runners Evan Coyne and Harrison Kim (1-2 for the team) ran solid races, both finishing in the top 15. The team benefited greatly as the Casey Burgess, Danny Veverka and Max Boisvert worked together and finished in a tight group compared to their last meet.
