The Cougars softball team hosted the Sabers of Souhegan today. The cougars remained hitless going into the 6th after a diving play by the saber shortstop to throw out Bre Hutchinson in the 1st and a great defensive catch in shoet center field by the saber 2nd baseman to retire Shannon Allen. Taylor Jarest broke up the no hitter in the 6th with a shallow single to left field. Unfortunately 2 hitters later she was stranded. The 7th inning began with a single by Bre Hutchinson and 4 pitches later Rachyl Parslow hit a 2 run out of the park homer. Natalia Hautanen then hit a single, followed by Hayley Cheviot who also hit a single. Kylee Brown hit a fly ball to right field that was dropped scoring Hautanen. Anna Bartsch pinch hit a fielder's choice to center field and Elizabeth Nute hit a single scoring Kylee Brown. All 4 runs and 6/7 hits late in the game. Jaden Hubbard-Lemay got the start on the mound. She went 4 innings facing 23 batters, allowing 7 runs on 10 hits, 1 walk and had 2 strikeouts. Elizabeth Nute came on in relief going 2 innings facing 12 batters, allowing 3 runs on 6 hits and 1 walk. Hayley Cheviot came on to close going the 7th inning facing 6 batters. She gave up 1 run on 2 hits, 1 walk and had 3 strikeouts!
