ConVal Girl’s Tennis lost at home in a close match yesterday against Goffstown 4-5.
# 1 singles player Julia Peters fell to Kelly Walsh 4-8 in a rematch from last year. Julia was down 1-7 and managed to grab three more games before losing.
Catrina Kipka won in the #2 spot against Jamie Baines. Catrina was up 5-2 when Jamie tied it up. That’s when Catrina turned on the heat with more angles and hard-to-reach shots. She won 8-5.
In the #3 spot, Zoe Werth beat Caroline Newell 8-4 with consistently good forehands and well-placed shots.
Eva Calcutt at #4 lost in a close match against Kyla Bernard 6-8. Eva was moving to the ball and serving well.
In the longest singles match of the day, #5 Lena LaFleur beat Hanna Laidlow 8-2. Points were long as both girls were getting to everything and keeping the ball in play.
Fiona Pieterse lost to Kenna Piecuch 1-8 in the #6 spot. Fiona had some nice rallies with her opponent.
Walsh and Baines beat Peters and Calcutt 9-7 in an exciting doubles match. ConVal had a few more errors at the end that made the difference in the match.
Kipka and Werth won 8-5 in #2 doubles with great communication and lots of court coverage. The pair is now 2-1 for the season.
LaFleur and Pieterse lost the final doubles match 1-8 against Laidlow and Kayla Brill.
ConVal Girl’s Tennis plays away at Hollis-Brookline on Wednesday and then is off for spring break until April 29th.
