The ConVal Girl’s Tennis team won it’s second match this season vs. Bishop-Brady today, 7-2. They are now 2-2.
Julia Peters def. Rachel Achong 8-6 in a very close match. Both girls had strong serves and hard forehands. Julia prevailed by making less mistakes than her opponent.
Catrina Kipka def. Manu Komma 8-5. Komma turned on the heat mid-match with lots of top-spin but Catrina played her own game and managed to come out on top.
Zoe Werth def. Anna Michaud 8-3 with some well-placed shots and running down a lot of balls. Her serving was very consistent today, too.
Eva Calcutt rounded out the top four today and def. Christina Beane 8-4. Many of the games were close but Eva came through with more consistency.
Numbers 5 and 6 in the line-up, Lena LaFleur and Jill Karlicek, both lost their singles matches 4-8. Lena was not feeling 100% today.
Julia and Eva at #1 doubles played a very exciting match vs. Rachel and Manu with the lead changing back and forth a few times. There was a lot more levity amongst the players during doubles versus singles, and Julia and Eva won 8-6 in the end. Many games went to several deuces before a winner was declared.
The number 2 doubles team of Catrina and Zoe finished quickly with a 8-0 win over Anna and Christina. Their opponents were having some serving difficulties but the two ConVal players played very well together: calling for shots, switching when needed and working together to secure the win.
Jill Karlicek played #3 doubles with Sandra MacKay. They won their match 8-3 in the cold and grey conditions.
ConVal girl’s tennis plays away tomorrow at Coe-Brown Northwood and at home again on Friday vs. Goffstown. All matches begin at 4:00 PM.
