On 12 January 2023 at the Dublin Nordic Center the ConVal Cougars varsity nordic team competed in their first race of the 2023 season. The event was a 5K freestyle race. The three Juniors all had impressive finishes in a very competitive field of skiers. In the girls race Laura Philips finished 20th with a time of 12:46.7. In the boys race Nathan Klonel finished 8th with a time of 9:04.3 and Kermit Pope was 20th with a time of 10:21.8. The event was organized by Keene High School and had over 100 skiers participating.
