The JV Cougars suffered another tough loss on Monday afternoon at home, losing to Sanborn 62-59.
The JV Cougars played a stellar first half, one of their better halves of the entire season. The JV Cougars ran their transition well and pounded, and I mean absolutely pounded, the boards. The second half, however, showcased a completely different Cougar team.
The Cougars entered the fourth quarter with a 52-42 lead. They couldn't hold off the Sanborn charge and were outscore 20-7 in the final frame. The Cougars seemed to get no breaks where Sanborn couldn't do no wrong. It was a heartbreaking way to leave the Cougars standing at 6-4 on the season.
Joe Gutwein led the offense for the Cougars with 17 points, Malachi Page had 16, Owen McGuire netted 7, and Alex Heck played one of his best defensive and rebounding games of the year while putting in 6 points.
The JV Cougars next travel to Laconia on Thursday for a 430 start to see if they can get back on track.
