The JV Cougars suffered their worse loss of the season on Friday night with a 67-52 thumping from Kennett. They now sit at 6 and 3 on the season.

The JV Cougars were able to steady their way through some rough play in the first quarter and ended it only down by two points with Kennett leading 15-13. However, the second quarter seemed that the JV Cougars got back on the bus (in which they had just been on for three hours) to take a nap. They were outscored 11-4 in the third quarter and went into halftime down 26-17. Despite Malachi Page's great play in the third, the rest of the JV Cougars just couldn't muster up anything to help Malachi out. Malachi has 12 points in the third quarter alone, with three and 1 opportunities, and the Cougars scored 18 in the frame. However, they let up 24 and exited the third quarter with a 50-34 deficit on their hands.

The JV Cougars defense was nowhere to be found. The most points the Cougars had previously let up this season had been 45. They had given up 50 with 8 minutes left to play and it didn't get much better. Christian Buffum put them team on his shoulders in the fourth scoring all ten of his points. The Cougars outscored Kennett 18-17 in the final frame but the defense just wasn't there.

Malachi Page ended with 18 points in just two quarters of play, Joe Gutwein did his part and chipped in 16 overall, and Christian ended with 10. These three Cougars combined to score 44 of the JV Cougars 52 points.

The JV Cougars next play Monday, 2/3, at home at 5 o clock. Their next game is on the road, at Laconia on Thursday with a 4:30 start.
