The JV Cougars put together their best team effort yesterday in a 57-39 win in a tough road game against Kearsarge. The Cougars jumped ahead early and never let go of the lead winning with great defense, fast paced offense, intense effort and hustle, and ball movement. 

JV Cougars saw a lot of minutes from the youngsters, especially in the fourth quarter. Great games came from Alex Heck, once again, who provided a great motor to influence the teams efforts. Austin Klonel, Oliver Theriault, Noah Stewart, and Malachi Page also gave the team great minutes on both ends of the floor.

The hero of the game came from a performance by Freshman Joe Gutwein who turned in the best JV basketball performance I have seen in my many years of coaching. Joe Gutwein chipped in 34 points on the evening, making 16 two point field goals, 15 of them in the paint, one jump shot that should have been a three but was counted as a two, and converted 2 of his 3 and-1 opportunities. Joe made the game look far too easy yesterday and it was truly something to watch. Despite scoring so many points, Joe also got his teammates involved with great passes and played stellar defense.

The JV Cougars play their second game of a back to back Thursday at home against Kingswood.
