The track team competed in the Division II Championships on Saturday, May 30. Senior Ross Stephens won 2 individual events (200 meters, 400 meters) and anchored the 4 x 400-meter relay. His 48.46 second 400-meter dash was a new Division II record as was the 4x400 meter relay team’s 3:25.19 finish time. The relay team included Griffin Schultz, Walter Stephens, and Bretton Davies, and this speedy crew also broke the school record with this new time.
Walter Stephens captured second place in the triple jump with a personal-best leap of 40 feet 4.25 inches. Griffin Schultz took fourth place in the 400-meter dash and fifth place in the 200-meter dash. Jack Telofski ran a personal best in the 110-meter hurdles and finished in fifth place.
For the girls, Whitney Adair finished in sixth place in the 800 meters, running a personal-best 2:26.57. The 4 x 100-meter relay team of Adair, Stella Arnone, Amelie Davis, and Larianna Trudel ran a season-best 55.14 second time. Adair, Davis, and Trudel teamed up with Alia Dodge to run a season-best 4:34.89 finish time in the 4 x 400-meter relay.
The relay team, and Ross have qualified for the Meet of Champions which will take place on Saturday, June 6 at Oyster River High School.
